Sunday, June 5, 2011, potluck at 1 p.m. followed by tour of five community gardens

Hello gardeners and friends!

This upcoming Sunday, June 5, we have the pleasure of opening our garden to the community at large. The Fayetteville Community Garden Coalition is hosting a garden tour, and we're the first on the list! Come on out to show your support for the Walker Park Community Garden, and, if you're a plot holder, show off what you're growing in your plot! Here's the schedule for the tour:

2:00-2:10pm - Tour group will meet and gather at the Walker Park Community Garden (945 S. College Ave. in Fayetteville)
2:10-2:30pm - Walker Park Community Garden
2:40-3:00pm - Jefferson Community Garden
3:10-3:30pm -  Headstart School Garden
3:45-4:05pm - Mt. Comfort Presbyterian Community Garden
4:15-4:35pm - Holt Middle School Garden
4:35-5:00pm - Anyone who has left their vehicle at the Walker Park Garden may return to pick up their car.

To kick off the garden tour, we'd like to invite you to WPCG's very first community potluck at 1:00 pm, Sunday, June 5! Bring your favorite snacks, savory foods, and sweets (and water, too, please!) to the garden site for a chance to meet your neighbors and celebrate the first of summer. Please bring your own blankets and chairs!

We also wanted to use this opportunity to invite you all to our weekly workdays on Sunday evenings. As the season gets hotter, we'll be moving them further and further back into the evening to avoid the sun, but for now, come join us at the garden at 4:30 on every Sunday for some socialization and hearty work! We've been staking our tomatoes in the community plot, and the garden is looking great! We'd love to see you all and hear about what you're growing. This Sunday, we'll be working after the full garden tour has been completed (4:45 pm) to give the chance for folks to follow the rest of the garden tour if they like.

Please let us know if you have any questions! Hope to see you this Sunday, and all the Sundays after that, too!

Happy gardening,
Serena and the WPCG Team
